Advice from Mom
Editor and Producer from Episode 4 to series finale
2016, 2017, 2018

Advice from Mom is equal parts mental-health-advice-column and motherly love. The podcast features listener letters, the advice and life stories of Dr. Momma B (AKA Elizabeth Skibinski-Bortman, PhD – a small-town family therapist “on a mission to mother a mentally healthy world.”) and guests like Esther Perel, Dolores Huerta, Michaela Watkins, Ruth Pointer, and Emily Chang. Host (and daughter of Dr. Momma B) Rebecca Garza-Bortman brings a critical and comical angle to the show, keeping her mom on her toes with attentive follow-up questions and, occasionally, improvised musical aphorisms.

AFM was featured on iTunes New and Noteworthy, on NPR’s The Big Listen, and got this great review from The Constant Listener who said "The high-wire act of creating a show that is as insightful as it is entertaining is no small feat, but this mother-daughter pair pull it off with seeming ease. Add to all of that the production is just tip-top... It is an experience quite unlike any other."
